Poverty affects many students in education, although it does not always affect students in a bad way. Poverty can do one of two things; either drag one down or pull one out above and beyond. By being born in the United States of America a child rich or poor has the ability to succeed. There is no better way than using the education system to pull you out. People think when they re born in poverty you are stuck there. Working your way out and pushing and thriving you can study your way out into a wealthy life. Eric Thomas a very intelligent motivational speaker once said: â€Å"When you want to succeed as bad as you want to breathe, then you ll be successful.† You must learn to use all your sources to your advantage, never take anything for†¦show more content†¦Martà ­nez is among many children in the poorest parts of Matamoros who achieved the top test scores in the state† (Brundage, 2012) We continue to miss the fact that we must prepare all students the same , this disproportionately impacts low-income students. The Economist summarizes: â€Å"America is one of only three advanced countries which spends less on the education of poorer children than richer ones† (Minton-Bedoes, 2012). A child’s zip code continues to play a role in that child’s future. By providing high-quality education for all students, we can make sure that all students have the potential to succeed no matter what they can afford. (â€Å"Education..†). Today, graduating from high school and going to college, obtaining a postsecondary degree can mean the difference between a lifetime of poverty and a secure job to bring in money to support you and maybe a future family.
